The old Blu Ray already has those colors intact with going overboard with the saturation levels. This is something the 4K gets wrong on so many levels

@@carpal08 According to you, no. Calling the choices a joke or 4k a joke in general is some tunnel vision. The more 4k is adopted the better for all films, no? Some just have to wait longer than others.

There's a greenish/brown tint on the 4k, look at 5:44 the ocean goes from blue to teal

@@ImperialCaleb I saw that and to me, it look more natural. Many BD are more "bluish" than it supposed to, it is known.

@@SteviesCornerRUclipsChannel It's not super drastic, but it's definitely not more natural. Sometimes the ocean is a little green, but the sky there is supposed to be blue

@@ImperialCaleb I've been few times near the ocean and believe me, that ocean and sky tone are really common, yes, natural and not over blue. If your mean "supposed to" is to comparing this new 4K movie from the earlier VHS, DVD or BD, it is normal to see changes. The previous formats are limited. A freaking huge amount of movies don't reflect the director original vision and have been altered by the studios in post. That is why many directors are working on the new master with the restoring team so their movies would reflect their vision and that include coloring. This movie in particular has already been reviewed by other pros and collectors alike and everyone is praising this transfer.

@@SteviesCornerRUclipsChannel And plenty of (smart) movie directors have ruined or negatively altered their own movies because they fuck with them way too much after release. I love Bong Joon-Ho but he destroyed, DESTROYED the visuals of Criterion's Memories of Murder transfer so I had to order an old Korean bluray that looks better. Honestly, just give people what came out in theaters when the movie was released. Theres no need to James Cameron your own movie's visuals. And I don't care about what other pros and collectors say, it's my preference I'm worried about not theirs

It depends what your threshold is for "significant" but I am seeing a healthy amount of increased detail at 3:50 and 5:11 honestly it's not too hard to find

To my eye, it looks like this might’ve been one of those that were originally scanned in 4K for one of those old “mastered in 4K” blu rays they were releasing there right before 4K UHDs became a thing, and they just took that old 4K scan and threw it on a UHD without the constraints of blu-ray. Just my guess, since a lot of the (very few) enhancements are extremely minor, and/or incidental, almost like the benefits happened on accident/by chance; “oh the old 4K scan had extra reds the blu ray couldn’t represent, but now they’re visible on the 4K.” Stuff like that, lol. And of course the grain/extra clarity is welcomed, but seems to be the only benefit here. Again, only incidentally so, from a previous scan. Back then, the scans were more focused on resolution rather than color/luminance/HDR/etc, and that’s heavily reflected here, in my opinion. This feels like a 4K which will probably one day get a successor which is done from scratch/with HDR in mind this time, and then this iteration will end up being seen just how we see “first run” blu rays which got “remastered” blu rays later on in the format’s lifecycle. At least I hope so, lol. A bit late in 4K UHD’s lifecycle for them to *still* be trying this little, but oh well.

@@theblackesteyesthedevilseyes the aesthetic of the Blu-ray had a way more natural palette, which I personally prefer over the teal/greenish tint that the skin tones got with this transfer. Just personal preference.

What is appreciable in the way you framed your comment is the mention "which I personally prefer." This helps foster much healthier discussions than comments that state things - certainly arguable things - while forgetting to mention that they are personal opinions not necessarily shared. So thank you for that!

​@@hdnumerique in this day an age, where people feel their opinion is king only because they are given a platform where they can express themselves, discussion and debate has mostly disappered. Sadly, entitlement, egos and hate prevailed. While saying my opinion I always consider what art is about: there is no right and wrong, just personal interpretation and preference. If this one is not for me, it might be for soneone else, and that's great anyway.
